So I have a question. I was doing research at a professor's lab, and as engineer my last year involves a project. I have adapted a part of my research with the professor into my project, and hopefully by the end of the year my project will be done and I will have done a presentation regarding the work, but I don't think any publications are going to made until probably after I have left the school. I really don't know how to bring this up to my professor because if my project works it will have accomplished the goal of the research and gone beyond it too, but it will also be the time when I graduate and so I don't think I would be able to contribute to the actual publication. Should I request to be an author to the publication or to be mentioned as a major contributor to the actual project?
Also if asked about this research in interviews I should probably avoid mentioning publications because its still far off from occurring, right? Id appreciate your insight.
