Anyone aware of a way to apply for a research track position that involves training in general IM at one institution and cards/research at another institution? I know that one can apply for a research track position at another institution once he/she starts his IM residency, but I'm talking about doing this out of medical school.
The reason I'm interested in this is because I have personal reasons why I need to be at a particular (home) institution for the next two years, but after that I'd like to be elsewhere for fellowship training. I'm interested in the research pathway and I'd rather not wait until I start my IM residency to apply. Thoughts?
