Hi - I am thinking about taking a year off from medical school for a variety of reasons. Was thinking this would be a nice time to do some research to see if I like it and to help my cv... But I have no idea how to start this process. The advising system at my school is not so great. What should I do to start this? I am looking to go somewhere else, like a big name med school where I could maybe get a letter of recc from a big name physician. I don't really have any geographic limitations but I do need money for this. I don't have any research experience, so that might hurt me.
