I know that to obtain a research internship (in a professor's laboratory) during the Summer, you have to start your search for a position early.

However, I was wondering, how early must you start to look for a Fall position? Do you think it can already be too late?

Nobody could possibly answer this because research positions come and go at random. Just go ask your professors if you can get involved in some research with them and you'll have your answer.

it will usually be too late for the more popular categories as research positions are usually picked during course registrations...its not too late if your just looking for A position. ask professors now...be sure to know what they research and say that you are interested in xxxx research because xxxx reasons
