So I have started to research programs by going to their websites and for many, I have not found the websites all that helpful or up to date. Is it necessary to write/email/call each program individually and request a information packet? I am hesistant because I wrote medical schools for information when I was applying and they all just told me to look at their website and then I felt pretty stupid. I don't want to make a wrong impression on a program that I am really interested in.

How do other people research programs?

I went to the apgo.com site and searched by location. Programs update their info periodically. You can find out info about whether they have night float, what the call schedule is each year, frequency of didactics, avg. usmle scores, usmle cut off for prgms, etc. I am finding it to be pretty helpful. 👍

I actually did go to the trouble of emailing different programs asking for info packets, and with the exception of one, they all directed me to their websites. But, I agree that the websites are often not helpful and somewhat outdated. So I concur that the APGO website is the way to go. It has a ton of really helpful information. The only caveat is that you need login info which you can get from your school's OB clerkship coordinator - not a big deal. The other resource that is generally helpful is the FREIDA database maintained by the AMA.

I'm also in the process of figuring out how to get as much information as possible about various programs so if I come across any other helpful resources, I'll post on this thread. Cheers! :luck:

THe link I provided doesn't require a password or login as far as I can tell. If it does then contact your Ob/Gyn dept.
