I am accepted to NYCOM, LECOM and UNECOM. At NYCOM and UNECOM, we were given residency match listing results. However, at LECOM, no such information was provided. I called LECOM and spoke to admissions office and was told that they don't compile, provide or keep track of such information. I have looked and looked, but I can't find this information anywhere on this web site or elsewhere. Should this be of any concern to me, when making my final decision about LECOM? As a prostective student, don't you think LECOM should provide this information readily to us. And frankly, I have hard time believing that LECOM doesn't keep track of residency matching information.
Any advice, suggestions, comments will be much appreciated.

I have to agree that they should provide that type of info to prospective and entering students. I assumed that most programs did. At TCOM they keep track of all this including stats of applicants who matched. In fact, they provided us a compiled list from the last 4 graduating classes that broke down wherre they matched, board scores, and class rank. The names were left out to protect the innocent of course. 🙂 Maybe you should contact the Dean of Student Affairs at LECOM and see what they have to say. Besides, your going to be investing 4 years of your life there, you ought to know how hard the school is working to help their students to land residencies.

Well, I can tell you where one of their graduates went. One of the attending ER physicians at JSUMC in NJ is an LECOM graduate and a damn good doctor. 🙂

I also think match lists are a bit over-rated. It depends on who wants to do what in a specific year and a lot of chance. I have looked through a bunch of match lists for different schools and frankly, I don’t see much of a difference, and any difference I do notice I usually attribute to what I just said, chance and interest in that year’s class, not the school. In the end, it is your hard work that will get you where you want to go.

Match lists are normally regionally biased as well, I think. For PCOM and UMDNJ anyway. Most graduates at PCOM and UMDNJ acquire residencies in the surrounding areas. I guess it really depends what your interest is. If perhaps you were interested in PRS and you noticed that a particular school always seemed to have gradute go to a particular program/hospital that might be beneficial. I just like to look at the lists and see where others have gone. Regardless, I think that all schools should be required to furnish match lists for X years upon request at the time of interview. I think PCOM would be able to do it, the problem is they would just send you to the library to look at the old yearbooks.

also...you have to remember about the rotationg internship and PA. Consequently, many of PCOM's and I assume LECOMs graduates only apply for their internship spots during their fourth year. Hence, a match list is not really indicative of where many of PCOMs graduates have gone or will eventually end up. I am graduating this year and after just seeing most of my class for boards!!!....I would say at least half just applied for internships....and as others have said a lot depends on the class and their specific interests. After having gone through the whole process and almost done with interviews (Umass the 24th) I would suggest going to the school that you fit in best at. That statement has been reiteratednumerous times but it really does hold true. Medical school is what you make of it....if you work hard you will be able to succed in virtually any field from any school. good luck!!! The road is long with many twist, turns, tolls ($$) and many hitchhikers but their is a light if only just a candle even for myself currently......but it is still burning!!!

LECOM does compile a match list, so I'm not sure why someone would have don't you they don't have that information. Unfortunately LECOM views that information as highly private and only allows students and staff with access to the school server to access this information. I know this because I am a current MS I at LECOM. I would try calling again and letting them know exactly why you want the information. If you've already been accepted, I see no reason why they wouldn't give you that information, especially if that's what could make them choose you in the end. Good luck and let me know if you have any questions.
