Has anybody out there been on the road interviewing for residency this year? Can you give us some details about your experience - as an MD/PhD -on the interview trail? How have you been received by the program directors and faculty? Do they spend a great portion of the interviews discussing your research, publications and even, perhaps, the program's research, or do you think the interviews are pretty similar to those experienced by our MD peers? Has an interviewer ever dissed your research?

I'm particularly interested to hear from people going into smaller specialties (my program has a lots of internal medicine & peds applicants so I have a better idea what to expect for those) but ALL feedback is appreciated.

Hope things are going well for you - let us know what it's like and if there's any advice you would offer.

My interviews (peds) have been positive thus far. They've tended to have a straight MD one- likey similar to others, and then have tried to match me with a person with similar research- so that tends to be more research orientated. Some places do 2 day interviews for MD/PhD - with an MD typical day, then a second day with people in your research area.
So the interview in my experience is just like you- split in 2 directions!
