I posted this in th allo forum but no one responded =(. I did a search but didn't find my answer. Maybe I'm using the wrong key words...

How does residency matching work? Is it just like applying for medical school all over again, except you're a 4th year med student? All about scores, extracurriculars, personal statements?

Someone please shed some light, even if it's just a little one...thanks!

It's something called the match. I don't think it's like applying to med school. I think you list preferences in order and you end up with something depending on how competitive you are. I really don't know...

Read all about it on this site.

Basically, you submit your app through ERAS (AMCAS). They send it to programs you select. The programs then interview candidates. The program ranks the candidates in order of preference and the applicant ranks the schools in the same fashion. Then a computer matches the applicant at the place highest on their list that wants them.
