Why don't you just gain residency while here for medical school?

Are we allowed? Can you give me links. I thought because I am on a visa for school, I can't apply for resident? And doesnt it take 5 years to get green card? I'll need to apply for residency before then. If everyone can apply to get reaidency wouldn't all students try and get it then? Please advise

if we can say the disadvantages of being a DO are a random number

being a IMG AND a canadian...we can x2

as an IMG MD

IMG comming back to canada will be close to 5%
