Can anyone please explain how the residency match works. I was wondering if I wanted to do my residency in EM how many different hopsitals can I apply to? I don't care if I don't get into my top 3 I would just like to do EM.

There's no limit to the number of hospitals you can apply to. You can learn more about the match from the NRMP Website.

For E-med, it would be unusual to apply to more than ~2 dozen programs.
