Resident in Need of 5k-7k

Well into residency need about 5k-7k for major home repairs. Are there any loans that cater to residents. Tried residency/relocation loan they all require that i been in last year of med school. Any help would be greatly appreciated

Could you do a home equity loan?

or there are home equity credit lines i think much easier to get but with higher rates, during this economic times it be real hard to get anything!
Maybe talk directly to local bank or something and figure out a way?
Financial Aid at this point is useless to think about
