Anyone else contacted by their residency hospital about this refund? Planning to do it? Sounds like a good deal. But what's the catch, if any?

One thing my letter said is that this will take your earnings during residency out of your overall SS benefit eligible earnings, thus reducing the amount of SS benefits you get later.

Sounds like it would not benefit any current residents since it had to be prior to 2005.
 
I was contacted - it only applies to either 6 months or one year to me. I figured I really didn't have any reason not to agree to it.
