Hello all,

I'm familiar with usajobs for VA/fed positions, but what are good resources for job search? Usajobs just has a [pretty wide] salary range for Psychiatrists. I'm also curious about the private sector. Looked at Kaiser, but they didn't even have a range. As a rising PGY2, figure it'd be a good idea to begin familiarizing myself with the process.

Thank you

You usually won't find the salaries in the ads (depending on the job - government jobs usually have a fixed salary) and will have to ask people who work there, or wait until they make you an offer. If its a particularly attractive salary, or a particularly bad job then the salary will usually be mentioned. The best resources are word of mouth, your residency program (if you want to stay in the area), previous graduates of your program, and contacting the places you're interested in - either the recruiter or clinical director/chair of dept etc.

Also public employees often have their salaries listed online so you can look them up

governmentjobs is good for non-federal government jobs
indeed.com is pretty good
jobs.psychiatry.org is the apa job site and also pretty good- your local APA district branch will also have a site with local jobs
hercjobs.com is good for academic jobs though you are best off contacting departments directly

many of the best jobs aren't advertised

It's way too early to be looking at this as an intern though it might be nice to have a look to remind you what there is at the other end
