Are letters of interest and letters of intent the same or different?

Are letters of interest and letters of intent the same or different?

to my knowledge, they are not the same. a letter of interest basically says you would LIKE to go there if offered admission. a letter of intent says that you WILL go if offered admission and should only be sent to your top school!
