This is the first problem of Kaplan that DMD to be posted and I am stuck already 🙁
C6H12O6 + O2 ==> CO2 + H20

answer is "in the mitochondria"
I can't understand it even after reading the explanation.
First of all, is it ok that this reaction isn't balanced?
second of all, it seems that glucose became CO2 and I don't know when that happens in respiration.
It says glucose meets oxygen but since glycolysis is anaerobic, I don't think reactant side has something to do with glycolysis.
6C(glucose) become 2 pyravate acid(2 of 3C) and each loses 1C to become 2C and enters krebs cycle. The 2c combines with 4C to become 6C. 2CO2 r released and 4CO2 goes back to the cycle.
so...when did it ever become 1CO2?
