Hey, I'm about to start a series of interviews in the upcoming weeks for some PsyD programs in the Philadelphia area. How long has it taken for responses from schools after the interview, in everyone's experience? Thanks!! 🙂

Depends on how they rate you. If you're really high or low on the list, you'll probably hear back sooner than someone who is in the middle.

It varies by school, but most schools will give you a good sense of it at the interviews in my experience. Several of mine decided immediately after interviews and informed people within a few days if they were accepted and within a week if they were wait-listed (I believe high alternate wait listed people sometimes got calls at the same time as the accepted people). If you didn't make it, you wouldn't hear anything for a while, but it would likely be pretty obvious. Others waited weeks (especially programs with multiple interview dates or that conducted phone interviews as well as in person ones), but they seemed to notify most people at the same time, and the programs generally had pretty good estimates of when that would be.

If you are wait-listed, you could be waiting right down until the last minute (April 15th) to know if you get accepted though.

They'll come soon enough. Then a year from now you'll be like me saying "man I wish I had enough time to want something other than free time." Yikes I'm so cynical. Most schools aren't even looking at applications yet, so no worries. You have at LEAST until January to spazz out without any real reason to.

I have an interview with PCOM on Friday, and I sent my application packet less than 2 weeks ago. Needless to say I'm shakin' in my boots!! My other apps are La Salle and Chestnut Hill College. The schools I chose to apply to are somewhat modest, as I have relatively modest undergraduate numbers. I managed to earn a 4.0 in my Master's program and get some excellent reccomendations so I consider myself lucky to get interviews!! From what everyone is saying it seems like I should chill out and be patient 🙂

La Salle sends, via paper-mail, a form with log-in info for their website so that you can track the status of your application online -- pretty neat.

Chestnut Hill College is still in the stone age as everything they do is on paper... they have yet to do anything online (like choosing classes, etc.). For those of you saying "What the heck is a Chestnut Hill College?" it's a relatively new program (started in the late 90's) and has been acredited for just a few years. Nevertheless it is gaining an excellent reputation, so I hope to see it on the map in the next 10 years.

remember, if the program you are applying to has more than one interview date, you might not hear for a LONG time, no matter how well you were rated (or how poorly, i guess). it took 6 weeks for me to hear from one school last year, since i interviewed on the first of three dates spread out over 6 weeks.
