Hey, people,

I have an issue and I would like to have your feedback on it.

I climbed from being a bad student to a well-regarded one. Unlike other students with me at my medical school, I am very pressed to succeed. If I fail, I would be sent back to the hell I walked through just to get to medical school.

But, yet - every time I try to take a break from studying when we have e.g. intersemester breaks (like now, actually), I have this gut feeling that tells me: "GO STUDY!" When I had my Christmas break with my family in Lebanon, I spent my entire days studying anatomy, worrying about the pain-in-the-ass chemistry and histology. When I came back to Poland, I was exhausted, and I still had 2 finals and a midterm to plough through. I was on my ropes, but thankfully, I passed them all.

Situation: I start school on Monday. I have a couple of days left. Should I rest or should I study like hell?

Study situation:

* Histology quiz on tuesday.
* Pelvis, perineum, bladder, male genitalia on tuesday.

Even mentioning this crap gives me bad vibes. But I'm not losing my nerve.

Your opinions? How do you utilize your breaks? Study day and night or R&R?

Regards from Sweden!

A.S.

What are you doing on SDN???

GO STUDY!!

whiner, i havent had a break since summer of 2004 and you're talking about vacations in Lebanon, geez, you chose to go to med school, you should understand how much work it was going to take. GO STUDY! 😀

Echo the sentiments above:

1) You are not a special snowflake, everyone feels pressured to study all the time
2) Study
3) Take breaks when you need them
4) Try to get over being a neurotic premed

👍

When you applied to med school, didn't you realize that you were giving up all rights to free time? Be happy that you're going into one of the most well-regarded careers available to you and work hard to be the best doctor you can be. Vacation isn't a right it's a privilege 😛

Vacation may be a privilege but breaks definitely are not. I take breaks no matter what, they are just shorter during high pressure situations like Step 1 studying
