My CV was 3 pages long as well and I had previous medical field experience too. I wouldn't go into a lot of details for the med experience. If the program is interested in your previous experience, they will ask you. Of course they know you may not have alot of experience in podiatry....you're a student. Your previous med experience may be helpful in a program getting to know you by asking about your background or what you may feel that it contributes to your interest in podiatry.
For instance, under education, if you have a BS in Nursing, of course put it down. Under work experience, you could put the areas of experience (ICU, peds or whatever) then move on. No need to put employers, etc.
Under licensure, I am sure ppl may put their CPR/ACLS stuff, current licensure in their previous med field, etc
Don't make doing your CV overly complicated. It's not that difficult. Also, as you do things over the course of school/residency or whatever, update your CV. So you're not trying to remember something you did a year later. What I mentioned and others mentioned were only tips, you don't have to put everything someone mentioned because it will make your CV look like you're trying to hard or it full of fluff. Plus do a search on google and have other ppl (DPMs, profs) proofread your CV.
I left a few things out because I got asked many times during interviews, tell me something about you that is not in your application. You can't put everything. I mean what if you were a previous circus juggler or fire breather
🙂
Is three pages too long? If I have previous experience in a medical field, how much should I highlight it (i.e. detail of experience, licensing exams, etc)? Is it possible to "over-power" limited podiatry experience as a student? Or will it be viewed favorably?
