Hey everyone!

I need help formatting my CV. I am trying to apply for AQUAVET this summer, and I am having trouble formatting my experience during veterinary school. I am trying to show my interest in aquatic medicine, and I want to hit on some of the amazing experiences that I've had, but I don't know how to mention stuff that wasn't quite attached to a club (ie, shadowing at a zoo, volunteering at an aquarium, course on fish health through AAFV, certificate program for aquatic health at my school). I also want to show all the organizations I'm part of, but if I start listing it's gonna take like half a page (I might have been a little overzealous at the club fair lol.)

Here's the part on the application that is causing me to freak out lol:
"Be sure your educational and professional training are clearly indicated on your CV.
It is also helpful for the admissions committee, if you highlight which undergraduate, graduate or veterinary courses you have taken relating to exotics, wildlife or aquatics. List them below; we will look for these on your transcripts. If more space is needed, list these on a separate document."

I am also struggling with the order of titles for my CV. Obviously education and work (only animal or others too?) experience should be first, but then Organizations? Awards/Achievements? Undergrad Research/Conferences? Undergrad Leadership positions (there's a lot of this, should I pare down?) Volunteering/Service Learning??? Should I be taking animal experience from high school off at this point?

My school doesn't seem to have a published template online, though I have looked at others. I think my problem is blending the undergrad and now vet school experiences since I don't have like externships or clinical rotations or scholarships/awards yet to show why I'm a good candidate. If y'all are willing to share what you had at this point in school or if you want to DM I'd be happy to share what I have right now. Thanks for the help!

A CV is generally much longer/more detailed than a resume, so as long as everything you include is relevant I wouldn't worry about length too much. I think mine was 2-3 pages while I was in vet school?

There's no right/wrong answer for formatting but my vet school CV followed this outline:
1. Education
2. Clinical/work experience (I also included unpaid experiences here, such as internships)
3. Externships
4. Elective coursework
5. Certifications/awards/other
6. Club/national org memberships (and leadership roles when applicable), conference attendance

If you have publications at this stage, I would include those in their own section. You want to hit the most important stuff first, as reviewers will start to glaze over as they go through your CV. I followed reverse chronological order for listing my experiences in each section (most recent first).

It feels like a weird thing to do when you're doing it, but personally I started chopping off irrelevant jobs/experiences as I progressed. I think I took off my non-animal undergrad stuff (dining hall job, for example) by the time I was applying for externships iirc. That is valuable experience for life but most of these programs are looking for people who are actually interested in the field long-term and you want to prove that. Cashier/whatever jobs aren't going to do that.

If your high school experience is relevant to aquavet or really significant (like thousands upon thousands of hours), I'd consider leaving it, otherwise it can probably go.
