Hey guys, I'm just curious how everyone set up their resumes fro schools that required it. Should we include our observation hours? I was formally a special education major, do you think it would be appropriate to list my relevant volunteering/practicum/observations? Does it need to be limited to a page like for job apps, or is it more like a CV where it can be longer? It's making me reluctant to finish mine. Thanks!

Just out of curiosity what schools need a resume?

I mean I had to do one for the second round of East Carolina's process, but they tell you exactly what they want.

I would keep the resume to two pages but not more than that. Try to capitalize on individual growth, professionalism, and achievements.

I had one page with all my OT experiences in a table (landscape). It had contact info, dates, type of setting, and a description of the types of disabilities I worked with and the methods we used. The second page was a regular formatted resume with education, job experience, and leadership experience, that I would use for typical job applications. Make it easy to read and clear. If you format it, make sure that it is all formatted the same way. Don't claim your are detailed oriented if things are punctuated differently or things are bolded at different spots.

Do you think it would be worth listing some of my "teaching" experiences from when I was a special education major? I took a behavioral management class that I think was very useful and relevant to OT (especially in schools), plus I did some teaching. I only have 2 shadowing experiences so far (relaxation for people with intellectual disabilities/school OT), but expect to get into 1 or 2 more in a week or 2 (outpatient/inpatient hospital and peds outpatient).
