For those of you who are applying or have gotten into dental school, what did you think was the most outstanding thing in your application that made you stand out? I am looking for something other than gpa and DAT scores. Anyone want to share?

There is not really one specific thing that will push you over the edge of competition, but I'd have to say that all my leadership experience helped. All of my interviewers so far have commented me on my involvement with leadership activities (president of my fraternity, Big Brother mentor, student advisor, attended leadership conferences, etc). My interviewer at Columbia specifically stated that they, and dental schools in general, try to select students with strong leadership qualities into their classes.

I have to agree with SMDdent. I helped start a sorority at my school and people have been pretty impressed by that.
