Looking for some anecdotal data on chain retail pay in the philly area...thanks.

One would have to find a job to get paid. And everyone knows there are no jobs in Philly!

I work for one of the big 3 in southern jersey near philly....58/hr. I'm assuming philly will offer you a few bucks more since you're in the city.

But really...there are very few jobs in the tri-state area (4 schools in philly). Consider yourself lucky if you've got one lined up.

Unfortunately that's true. That's why I don't live there anymore. Most people that stayed locally got jobs in the suburbs.

People actually want to live IN Philly? Philly is the thing of horrors. Now Montgomery County? Its fantastic. I haven't been South of the Turnpike in months. And I won't until the MLS season starts again. To hell with the city. Montco & Chester. They got everything I need.

That said, you'll start at about $52-54/h and can make well over $60/h. Good luck getting a job, though. It's rough out there. To get a job in the area, you might wind up in freaking Carbon County or something.

My parents live in Center City (Rittenhouse) and I love visiting them.

To each their own.

Rittenhouse isn't indicative of the rest of the city....heck, Schuykill to two-street/Vine to South is this island of wealth in a sea of crack. I loved my CC bubble but it was a bubble none the less.

I never thought I'd see "chester" and "everything I could want" in the same post.

On the other hand...Doop!

I am know friend who is pay $68/hour good benefits also.

Center City is meh. Everything is expensive. I can pay $300k for a broom closet in Chinatown or get a 2200 sf house for $250k in Montgomeryville. If I need the city, I'll hop on the R5. Once we got that local Dave & Busters in Plymouth Meeting, I have no need to do anything in the city. It stays down there, I stay up here. If it's South of the turnpike, I avoid it as much as I can.

I enjoyed Collegeville...I spent many afternoons raiding the hot food bar at that Wegmans; oh and buying crap in Limerick was a trip with that giant cooling tower in the background. It was like I was on an episode of the Simpsons.

I live Wilmington. Tons of friends there. Stoneys Pub is my favorite place to hang out after Union games. Also where Fight Club took place.

Wegmans. Yes, sir. Another thing Philly people can't enjoy. The new one in Montgomeryville is fanfreakingtastic. It is food heaven. I couldn't have Wegman's of I lived in philly. That is frightening. If you've never experienced Wegman's....I'm sorry. I truly am.

You could cross the bridge into jersey...Wegmans in cherry hill is ~15 mins from the BF bridge down route 70. But good luck doing that at 5pm on any weekday.

If Harold and Kumar taught me anything, its that journeys to Cherry Hill usually don't end well.
