Retail pharmacy pay???????????

Does anyone know what the start pay for a retail pharmacist is in the Chicago-land area? And does the pay vary among the different retail chains, i.e. walgreens, cvs, osco, wal-mart, sam, etc???

Also, which chain is the slowest as far as business is concerned, i.e. lowest number of scripts per day???

i don't know about pay but walgreens in the retirement villages are typically the slowest stores...I would highly suggest you request it if you want a vacation like store

What do you mean by retirement villages??? I'm unclear on what you mean????

Ever hear of the Village People? Popular band from a while ago.. anyhow, that is essentially what the band was founded upon: ideas of retirement villages.

You can check out of a few of their songs, but that's the central theme behind their music.

Because if you have one store getting twice as many scripts but has 4 times the support staff wouldn't they be a lot less busy? From the viewpoint of a worker there of course. Obviously the store is busier but not to the workers since the workload is spread out much more.

At a store that does 200 scripts with only one tech, you will be extremely busy. I was at a store that did 600, but there were many more techs. There was one just for the in window, two just for the out window, one just for the drive thru, and one for filling. If there was no one at the in or out windows, those techs would help with filling. This left the pharmacists on duty free for verification and counseling.

At a slow store, the pharmacist will have to work the out window, the in window, fill & verify. I think it is better for the pharmacist to concentrate on verification, so med errors are not made.

So I take it, you ask how many people are staffed during the day during your interview to figure out how busy or heavy your workload is, correct??

Yes, ask how many techs work each shift, how many pharmacists work each shift, how many scripts are filled per day, etc. You want to spread the workload around.
