Retake a science class that's not a prerequisite

So I know that the pre- requirements for Med school are :

Organic Chemistry 1+2
General Biology 1+2
General Chemistry 1+2
Physics 1+2
Some schools require Biochemistry
English
Math-(Different for each school)

Usually the minimum grade for the pre-req courses is a C or higher

My question is if I got a C- in a biology class (Cell Biology) and its not any of the prerequisites above, just a upper level science class, then does it also have to have a minimum C grade to be accepted or is the C- alright? I just don't want to have to retake it. (Side note- my only C in a science class. )

Oh man lol, I was hoping I wouldn't have to retake it. It's one of the hardest courses for biology at my school. Anyone else feel I should retake it? @Goro

So I'm assuming your saying that even a non prerequisite course also requires a C or higher?

What's your GPA, sGPA and MCAT? I would say if you're around 3.45 or higher for both GPAs with 28+ MCAT then I wouldn't stress about it that much. Otherwise, retake it to raise your GPA, also it will show the adcoms that you are dedicated and can handle a hard class.

I would say retake anything that you get a C or under in. Even though its not a prereq it shows that you have character and are willing go the extra mile to improve your imperfections in my opinion.

cell bio is a very important class in college level bio education. It is hard for you to handle many of the med school materials unless you do well in classes like cell bio. It is a red flag for you to apply with c– in cell bio no matter how hard your professor is. Retake it or do well, even C+ should deserve a retake. Unless you have 12+ on mcat bio or 3.8 sGPA, retake it by all means.
