Had an F in Bio I and Calc I my first semester in college. Now retaking my science pre-reqs but do not want to retake Calc I.

Will the F in calc be a problem?

GPA is currently 2.97 without retakes.

I know calc is not used for the sgpa calculation but how much will an F in Calc on my transcript hinder me?

I'd almost take it just for the replacement.

But I doubt it will hurt by itself as long as you have other math classes to show you're not incompetent. I had an F in Pre-Calc (blew off an independent study class a long time ago) and the worst part of it was the effect it had on my GPA, even after a ton of other credits. Never came up during my interviews, though. I did alright in a couple of other math classes later on.

Thanks for the insight.

Yeah, I did take two STATS courses and a Probability course all of which I got B's in so I feel I should be alright then.

Absolutely awesome tumblr by the way! Congrats on your acceptance!

Yeah you'll probably be okay, especially if that F was a while ago. If you're looking for an easy cGPA booster though, there's your answer.

Thanks! Was that you who just followed me earlier? I always try to suss out where new ones come from lol.

I agree with coolingglasses. Retake calculus. It will be an easy gpa boost and you will also avoid any issues that could arise from it.

Good Luck.

I'd suggest a retake as well. Calc is annoying, to me, because I hate math that is heavily "theory based." Coming from a finance background, I loved statistics. Regardless, retake the class and enjoy the GPA boost if you do well.
