Hi guys I'm stressing out after I found out I received a C- in Calculus. It is my first semester, and the rest of my grades are not amazing either, but this is by far the worst. (Without this class I would have a 3.4, but now I have a little less than a 3) Calculus at my school is very difficult and many people struggle with it and to make it worse, I also got stuck with the most difficult professor. I'm sure I would be getting at least a B+ or higher at other schools. The policy at my school allows us to retake classes and replace our lower grade, but I know for medical school they still consider both grades. And even if I retook it here I'm not sure I would be able to get higher than a B. My question is if I should even retake it, and if I do should I take it at a different university near my home over the summer (where I can probably get an A) or retake it at my current university? If I retook it at a different university the grade would not transfer over to my university GPA. This one class is really stressing me out and making me wonder if I can even get into med school. I do not think I will be getting any other C's and will definitely start getting a higher GPA in upcoming semesters. What do you suggest I should do?

Are both grades still on your transcript if you retake? You are technically supposed to report all your grades, but they wont know if it's not on your transcript. Someone correct me if this sounds risky.

I wouldn't retake it, just upward trend from there. You have to study Calc again. Imagine yourself going into stat or calc ii and receiving a lower grade that you did in calc. Practice makes perfect when it comes to math. Good luck.

Thank you for the responses. The grades will both still appear on my transcript. But also, I won't be taking calc II in the future, if that affects anything.
