Well I took Chem II this past Spring and came out with a B in lecture and a B in lab. I am not going to go into details as why since that will only set me off and then I'd have to bite someone's head off. 🙄

So far these are my grades: Bio I (A lecture A lab), Physics (B's in both I and II), Chem I (A lecture A lab) and Chem II (B lecture and B lab).

I wonder if it will worth my time/$$$ to retake those with Bs so it will help with my GPA? But being that I am a non traditional student with a 4.0 GPA, how much will the science GPA weight against me? Should I spend the time to study for the MCAT instead and try to do good on it instead?

Thanks ahead all!

No, take more upper level science classes. Same effect on the ol' GPA, but an A in a new class on the first try will be given a lot more credit than an A in a class where you got a B and then retook. You obviously already have a decent grasp of the concepts if you got a B, so your A in a retake will be looked at as "meh, whatever."

I don't see where you currently have a 4.0 GPA with the grades that you have listed above. No, you don't need to re-take coursework in which you have earned a grade of B. As another poster Jochi1543 has suggested, you should take higher level science coursework and earn no less than a B+ with the same number of hours as the coursework in which you previously earned a B. Needless to say, you need to do well on the MCAT (take it once and nail it).

Oh sorry for the confusion on the GPA!!

My undergrad GPA was 3.5 in BS and BBA.

My MBA GPA was 4.0 🙂

When they look at GPA for science courses, do they look at just the med school prereq grages or all science courses?

Thanks,
Annie:luck:

We look at overall undergraduate GPA (first and foremost), then BCMP (biology, chemistry math, physics) grades and GPA. Graduate GPA is not figured into the equation very much (treated like an extracurricular activity).
