Retaking a class!

Hello guys... This summer I enrolled in Human Anatomy, and then dropped it two weeks later because I made the decision to take it in a regular semester.

What happened was that the computer got an error and it never registered my 'Withdrawal', so in the end I got an "F" instead of a "W" because I didn't even knew I was still enrolled in the course.

So, I took the class this semester and got a "B".

I know that AMCAS (the application service for MD schools) include both grades for the GPA, nevertheless some Medical Schools calculate their own GPA and only use the highest grade.

BUT, will AACPMAS calculate the GPA with only the "B" or will it also include the "F"?

When filling out the application, there is a place to put your podiatry pre-req courses and your grade for each. There is also a place to put if you repeated the course and it asks that grade.

As far as your GPA, I don't believe that it is recalculated by the AACPM. I think it is just whatever your college lists it as.

I used "Grade Forgiveness" for the "F". So my university will only count the "B" toward my GPA.

I'm asking because I don't know which GPA do POD schools use, if they use the GPA calculated by AACPMAS (the POD school application service), or the GPA calculated by my university???

I think they use the one calculated by the university. However, even if they did use the one calculated by aacpmas and the poor grade was easily explained (which yours seems to be), it probably really wouldn't matter.

Thanx for the help. Anyways I emailed AACPMAS (the POD school application service) to see if they average both grades or not when retaking a course for calculating the GPA, just to be 100% sure.

I will notify it in the forum when I receive the answer. 🙂
