Retaking Calculus

Is there any shame in retaking Calc I and II if I already have BC Calculus AP credit from high school? In my defense, I feel like my calculus foundation is a bit weak (I've seen old exams from these courses and they are much tougher than what I had in high school...proofs, etc.). Is there any shame in giving up my credits and taking these courses and -- can med schools find out that I did this?

Why would there be shame in that? Lots of people do it. Just know that you can't get additional credits for retaking an AP class in college. If you had calc credits from your AP class, you'll lose them taking Calc I and II.

Does your school offer a placement test? If so, I'd recommend taking that. If you did well in calculus in high school you'd probably be bored as hell retaking Calc I, even if you think you might be shaky. You probably only need to retake Calc II, since Calc I is so much more basic.

I retook calc I even though I had AP credit for the same reasons...I didn't feel strong enough to go on to calc 2 since my school had a pretty bad AP calc teacher. Some people swear against it but I feel its better to take the classes in college since at least in my opinion you will learn the material better.

I don't think there is any shame, but my guess is if you got AP credit, you know the stuff. I would suggest getting a math minor if that is of interest to you. At my UG, you'd be 1/2 there.
