Retaking class...E-Credit?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
if you have received a C or above in a pre-req, DONT retake. To prove yourself, take upper level bios, do well, as well as do well on the DAT( esp the section where you might not have done great in that class)

Why do you say that? Money and time is not a factor since it is going to be done over the summer. I think it shows schools that I am willing to learn and retry and that i care?

well, it will show more if you do well in upper level bios(IMO). not if you retake and intro course. from what i have heard around the forum and my friends, adcoms would rather see those do well in upper level bios than retake a class you dont need to retake ( C or above). take biochem if you havnt already, do well in that.

Will a grade be recorded on your transcript? Your school's GPA doesn't matter when you apply, so don't worry about your school's GPA. What matters is the AADSAS GPA calculation. If the new grade appears on your transcript, it won't hurt to retake it, but you need to get an A on your retakes.

Does anyone know how the DAT application processes retakes? As in how does it factor in with the GPA that the dental schools see ?

your original grade and your re-take are both included. your original grade is not dropped or lessened in any way.

so, there is no gpa incentive to re-take a class. additionally, it is expected that you will do better in a re-take - you've already taken it after all - so you are really proving less by doing well in that than you are by doing well in a brand new, harder class.
