Hey guys I retook a Gen Chem class, I got a D the first time and a B+ the second time around. The class was a 3 credit class so my question is when they calculate the Science GPA do they count both classes and put in the D and the B+ for 3 credits a piece or do they average the 2 grades for just 3 credits? Thanks

yes

I just talked to customer service and aacpmas and they told me that the grades are averaged

On transcript both first and second attempt will show separately. Their numerical values will be averaged in your gpa (both cGPA and sGPA). Your transcript won't show only one Gen Chem course with the averaged grade.

So since I had a D 1.0 and than got a B 3.0 does it average out in the end to be a 2.0? Sorry I'm still a little confused on how it works

No, but yes. They don't average them, but take both grades. So your GPA will reflect a D and a B (+?). So if each class was worth 1 credit, you'd have 1 credit worth 1.0 and 1 credit worth 3.0 - which is not the same as 1 credit worth 2.0

Hope that answers your question! Good luck applying!
