Hello,
I am having a hard time getting into a Post Bacc Program. I recently graduated from UC Irvine and I didn't really graduate with a high GPA. I just got rejected from KGI's Post Bacc program and Western's master program. I was wondering what admissions think if I retook classes that i got C- in such as Statistics, and one bio classes. I also got C's in my organic chemistry class, should i retake the organic chem series at a city college? its cheaper.

I am seeking advice on what should I do. All comments appreciated.

Have you looked into AACOMAS's grade replacement policy?

i have I'm not 100% sure how the replacement grade works out for D.O schools.

OP remember grade replacement works only when you retake the same class that is equivalent or higher in the number of credits (as far as I know)!

An example of where grade replacement wouldn't work:

5 credit Gen Chem class: D

4 credit Gen Chem class (retake): A

It would not replace it in this case because it's less than the original 5 credit class. It would work if it was another 5 credit (or higher) Gen Chem class.

Good luck!

What happens if you would take it at a community college? I know its a big debate right now in student doc premed. LOL. what happens if i took ochem 4 units and at community college its 5 units?

As far as I know, community college credits are acceptable for DO schools!

Fyi, this is why curriculum and teaching style is super important in med school.
If pbl sessions are mandatory and you hate them, you'll be in for a fun ride.

We recognize that the you of now is not the you of then.

Aww😍 Thank you so much. I've met so many awesome D.O.'s in the last year and to think I didn't even know what it was before that. You all just seem more down to earth👍
