can i retake pre-req. classes at a CC? i go to a 4 year uni that doesn't allow retakes for grades C- or higher. a friend advised me to just redo them at a nearby CC, but i'm not sure if that will be frowned upon by pharmacy schools. i think my sciences GPA is low, and was hoping a few more As could help raise it a bit. thanks! 😕

i got a bad grade in gen bio at a 4 year university, and I retook it at a cc and i got an A. I dunno if they look down upon it, but i did get interview invites and my grades arent stellar either

I think pharmcas averages outs your grade..for example if you get a C in o-chem at one school and an A in another school..Pharmcass will average out your grade for O chem...I think you shouldnt worry, but it is a good idea to speak with someone at your school of choice...

I retook some classes at CC (for review since I graduated college in 1999) - plus I work FT (8-5) and therefore couldn't take classes at a 4 year university. I don't think it hurts if the majority of your classes are at a 4 year... although the quality of the CC system here in Phoenix (Maricopa) is quite high.

Anyway, I would suggest that you retake the classes at the CC- just to learn the information better since you may need to know it- for PCAT or pharmacy school. If anything- I think it shows your dedication- and be prepared to address the issue in an interview.

I was accepted to 2 schools (one as an out-of-state student) and have turned down all other interview offers- so it can't hurt that much!

Good luck!:luck:

thanks so much! my GPA is a 3.1 and i'm double major in history and biochemistry. i haven't taken the PCAT yet, but i'm working as a pharm tech. i was involved in undergraduate research at my uni, and have been volunteering at the American Cancer Association for about 7 years now. the only thing that made me wary of even attempting to pursue pharmacy was my GPA. thanks for the help, guys!
