Hi, I was just wondering if any of you guys know how medical schools look at retaking classes at community colleges? do they see anything against doing it (i was planning on taking an intro bio class over)? i was also wondering if online classes can count when you send in your grades? i am just looking to get more science classes in to raise my sGPA. in your experiences do nutrition classes count towards science GPA?

Sorry about so many questions and thanks for the response

As long as it's from an accredited university, it technically counts. UNECOM has some Bio and chem courses if your interested.

For clarity, I think GreenShirt means that UNECOM offers online classes you might be interested in.

AACOMAS counts Nutrition classes as OTHER SCIENCE, so that will help the sGPA.

Community college classes are fine.

I think that taking classes at a community college wouldn't hurt you in any way. This would allow you to take classes at an accredited university with a cheap price tag.

Why not retake some science classes instead of taking more classes to raise your sGPA?

Med schools aren't going to know if a class that you took was online or at the actual school. It shows up as any other class on your transcript.

Oh yeah, and as far as community college classes go, I do remember on some med school websites (I can't remember if they were allopathic or osteopathic schools) it highly suggested that you take your classes at a 4-year instituition, and not at a community college. I would probably call any schools you're interested in and ask how they view it or search their FAQs section.

Yeah I've seen this once or twice. I wouldn't worry much.

hey thanks for all the replies. I'll contact the med schools to try to get more info. right now my plan is to retake my intro bio (100 level) class that i got a C+ in freshman year and my school doesn't allow retakes unless they're under a C. The nutrition class is online and i'm just taking this to give my sGPA a boost and because i've heard its an easy class. The community college is accredited as are both of the classes are for college credit so i hope they'll count on aacom.
