I am retaking the COMLEX CE exam in about 5 weeks. Concentrating on COMBANK, Boards and Wards and Simmons. I am in a fairly remote area with few, if any, fellow students from my school. So resources would have to be web-based or a book.

I'm spending about half my day currently on COMBANK. I'm thinking that online qbanks that resemble the COMLEX would be my biggest ally in this.

Any recommendations on other sources - books, online stuff, companies that offer tutoring or short cram programs, etc.? Also are the online qbanks the best primary source for reviewing? Heard conflicting news on this forum as to whether UW would benefit COMLEX test-takers or not. Thanks in advance for your feedback!

UW is WAY overkill for COMLEX. I would not recommend "wasting" time on it. I say "waste" since you will certainly learn a lot but not too much of that stuff will be on COMLEX.
Unfortunately, other than COMBANK there really is no Q-bank specific to COMLEX.
If you only failed by a small amount then I wouldn't try anything new. Just stick to the old resources & add the COMSAE evaluation test, since barely failing is more about luck than not knowing stuff.
If, however, you totally bombed it, then you have to try & figure out what resources did not help you & what you can replace them with.

My recommendations would be

  1. FA (The BIBLE.....or Quran or Torah 🙂)
  2. B&W (Good for Outpt/FM, Peds, trauma)
  3. Secrets (really good for the drugs/bugs charts, OB-GYN & Peds)
  4. OMT Review by Savarese
  5. COMBANK
  6. COMSAE
Good Luck

Thank you for the very helpful information.

What about a month left before the retake, can anyone recommend from their past experiences studying for this exam what percent of the time to devote to qbank cases (online and book)? Currently I'm spending about 75% of my day on the cases and the rest on review books.

I only did USMLEworld/COMBANK. I just took the COMSAE and it came out juuuust fine.

I started studying about 2.5 weeks ago.

I used Crush and went through it a couple times. Then used the hell out of combank. I also referenced boards and wards for some things that crush was a bit light on as suggested by combank questions that I could not answer based on crush. I used our schools board review of omm packet, though savarese I hear is superb too. I just this morning took comsae and got a 566. My actual comlex in two days. I feel good.

Good luck to you! You will do it, just stay focused and also allow several small breaks in your study, get outside for a 5-10 minute walk break every couple hours. Eat and sleep well too.
