I'm a senior now, and decided to retake the principles of biology that I took freshman year. The thing is I had a B-,and I had a C- in one very difficult upper level biology course, but I can't retake it due to schedule conflict with the classes that I have to do this year. I was told by my advisor that what I'm doing is not a good idea after my withdrawal date, and I'll probably be getting an A in the class, so I definitely don't wanna withdraw now. My intention was to just show that I could have done better, but I just didn't have the motivation but now I'm worried about it completely backfiring on me. Any thoughts?

So you're re-enrolled in Principles of Biology now, making up for a B- form freshman year?
Later you got a C- in an upper division bio course that you can't retake (C-).

What else is going on with your grades/courseload? Major? GPAs? For the Principles of Biology thing, it's not going to show much that you can retake and get an A in that. And, if for some reason, you don't get an A, then it's not awesome at all. B- is fine. But are you loaded with other Ws? I've generally heard that you shouldn't retake things.

yea my gpa is pretty low. almost 3.1. -_-..tryin to get it up these two remaining semesters best i can. I only have one withdraw for another class which im going to retake next semester. What's worse actually, I might not even get an A in this class..maybe A-. damn. i'm putting all my work into my other 3 difficult upper level courses. my morale is really low right about now.

Yeah, I don't really think a B- warrants a retake but if you have already paid out the money for the class you might as well. Unless it's early enough to withdraw without it showing up on your transcript, then you might think about doing that.

Also, doing your best and coming out with a B is a lot better than withdrawing and retaking IMO. Sure a B isn't going to help your GPA but I'd wager that a withdrawal would do more harm than having a B on your transcript would.

I'd focus your efforts on killing the upper-divisions. GPA isn't abysmal...you obviously just don't want to lower it. Your DAT is nice too.

A B- is not that bad in the grand scheme of things, so that isn't what you should be worried about. On the other hand, most (all?) schools have an "all pre-requisites must be done with a C or higher" rule... So you need to find a way to retake that course asap. Are you applying now?

Sorry duckie, I meant to say C+, not C-. oops lol

Oh? Then honestly, think you are okay. Just worry about acing all those upper div bio classes you have left this year and make a last strong push to the finish line. 😀
