These kinds of topics have been discussed ad nauseum and its getting kinda trollish. Ultimately, if you cant get an amazing score, then maybe you just aren't as great as you think you are. Not to be a jerk or anything, but thats just the way it is. Is it worthwhile to sacrifice 2-4 months of your life just to add 2 or 3 points to a score that is already competitive with the appropriate school list? I dont think so although others will disagree but whatever.
OP, you should just concern yourself with getting in. Life isn't fair and you can't nitpick where you go and where you go, etc. Some things are just out of your control. Yeah, its good to take risks and getting a higher MCAT score on a retake is nothing to scoff at. But you just need to sit down and think hard about the bigger picture. If you hopefully get into medical school, in just 4 years you will end up with the degree and skills necessary to become a doctor regardless of where you go. No one will care what MCAT you get or how many times you took it. Barely anyone will care where you end up for medical school. An MD at any low tier US MD program has just as good a chance at being a world-class plastic surgeon as someone from UCSF. All it takes it the requisite effort and prioritizing, and if you can get into a medical school at all then you have what it takes. Just take it one step at a time.
