I took precalculus as a prereq for my psych major at my university a few years ago and neither attended it nor did well in it (2.0). Now that I've decided I want to be a doctor, I intend to retake it before applying to a formal postbac. It's a difficult class to get into here due to huge demand, no matter the quarter, so it will be difficult for me to get into it as a nonmatric. Given that it's not an explicit prereq for medical schools, would it look bad to take it at a community college, where I know I could get into the class? Obviously I will 4.0 it no matter where I take it 🙂)), but taking it at a CC would be much easier logistically.

I think it depends why you are taking the class again.
In my opinion, it would look bad to retake this class at CC. It may look like you are just looking for an easy way to raise your grade. That being said, if you got a C in this class, there is no real reason to retake it other than for your own benefit. It may help you to have a little math refresher before taking chem or physics. So if you are taking it just for your own benefit, it's better to go CC than to not take it at all. Retaking it just for grade purposes, won't really help if you take at cc.

I think it's fine to take precalc at a CC. If you intend to take calculus in the future, it would be ideal to take that at a 4-yr university though.

I'm retaking it to actually learn precalculus, which I didn't do the first time I took it. I didn't take it in high school, and didn't attend class after the first midterm (except to take the other tests) when I took it at uni, so most of the concepts will be completely new to me. From what I've heard, teachers in classes like this are usually better at CCs, as they are teachers and not just math grad students.
