Hey I am a new member to SDN, but I've been a reader for a while now. I usually search for my questions and get the answers but I need some personal advice now.

I'm currently a sophomore in college. I'm a bio major and obviously looking to go into dentistry. My gpa isn't looking too good right now. I got a C in Orgo I. Can I retake this course at a community college or will this be looked down upon by adcoms. Can I take any science classes at a community college or will it look bad. I am thinking about taking some science classes that are not required by my major to boost my gpa. The reason I am looking to take classes at my CC is because I live 2 hours away from my university and have no way to take classes there. Thanks in advance for the advice.

I do not think that you should retake organic chem at a CC because first of all, not all schools accept CC credit and adcoms might not like it if you take it at CC. My GPA is not all that great either but put up a good fight and keep trying! Improve your GPA with upper level bio courses like Anatomy and Physiology or Biochemistry. Good to see another RU sophomore student on SDN besides me! 🙂

i would strongly urge you to take these classes at your university. try to stay there and take summer class... rent an apt, get a job, take class.

many dental schools will NOT accept any science prerequisite work from a community college.

Thanks guys, okay so I wont take orgo at my CC but what about some other science classes that arent prereqs

Many dental schools DO accept science prerequisites taken at a CC; however, it's a very bad idea to get back to a CC before graduation and take classes there (It shows a kind of weakness).
