Hey everyone! 🙂

I'm considering retaking a few of my prerequisites this year (Biology I, General Chemistry I, and Organic Chemistry I) and was curious what everyone's recommendation/experience was with online classes and from where? I've taken online classes before through my school, but they don't offer prerequisites online unfortunately. I work full-time, so online classes are probably my best route.

I've contacted the vet schools I'm considering to applying to this year and they accept online prerequisites classes. I'm just a little overwhelmed with all the schools that offer them (the more I look, the more I find) and just wanted to find out what everyone suggests or recommends.

Thanks in advance!

Those classes require a lab portion, which is hard to include as an online course. I would also make sure that although the schools you've contacted accept online, they know these include the science courses as usually it is more a GE thing.

Have you tried searching? There's a gazillion threads on this topic, both here and in the pre-med forum.

I know UNE has online science pre-reqs with labs.

It's great that you've already double checked that they accept online credits, but you will need to make sure that they will accept the specific classes you plan to take. I retook my biochemistry prerequisite last summer through an online college. I had to send the syllabus to the vet school I was applying to, and they evaluated the course against their standards and gave me an official okay. Some colleges don't have the same accreditation and it can be tricky to transfer credits. (For example, the cheapest biochem course I found wouldn't be accepted by the vet school, so taking it would have been a huge, expansive waste of time). Once you've found courses, contact your schools again and make sure they meet their requirements for a prereq course.

I would go off the assumption that since she is retaking the classes that she already has the class/lab completed and just wants to improve the lecture class grade.

As for the topic at hand, I'm kind of curious about this myself. Anyone know of any self paced organic 2 online classes? I found one by UNE online(mentioned above) but I can't find anything readily available on if it's generally accepted or not. Don't need the lab (taking it now), just the lecture.

I emailed the schools I'm interested in and most of them said they accept those classes (lecture and lab) if I take them online. One one school said they'll only accept the lecture portion only taken online and not the lab. I double-checked with them just to be sure. 🙂

Correct. I've already taken the classes before, and ended with a C+ in Biology I, C in General Chemistry I, and C- in Organic Chemistry I (with a B- in the lab.)

It's good that you want to retake the Cs and the C+, but also be aware that you may *have* to retake the C- because it is below what many schools will accept for a prerequisite course.

Hello, I am looking to take one more upper division biology. What do you guys think of Human Embryology for vet school? Is it a bad choice for a upper division?
