Hello,

I am looking for some help or maybe to hear from someone who has been in a similar situation. I have recently decided to persue a dental career and so I have been looking into what I need for the apps. I graduated last year and I am concerned about the LOR requirements.

Has anyone been out of school for as long as I have and gone back to get advice or help from their pre-professional committee? I am wondering if it is worth the work to track down profs and ask if they remember me to get them to write letters for my committe letter.
What are my other options (if any)?

Any advice is always welcome and appreciated.

Thanks!

I finished undergrad in 2004. When i first applied to DS in 2006 I went back to that institution and asked them if their services would be offered for (recent) alumni. They said yes but i should tell you I contacted my orgo prof at the same time as the committee chair and I believe that they sat down and spoke about it since my orgo prof was on the pre-health committee and I was ranked in the top 2 of that prof orgo sequence that year. But keep in mind it is not easy to find old profs that are capable (since they probably dont remember you all that well, although that may not be an issue w you) of writing a solid LOR, but generally they would be willing to write it for you.

good luck

Thanks for your advice. I figured it would be a hassle, so it might not be worth it, especially because you brought up the point about it not being a very good LOR. I would rather get it from someone who knows me a little better.

Thanks again.
