Has anyone received a returned supplemental application fee from Midwestern? I checked the portal and it still says my application is complete, but I just received the supplemental fee of $50 back into my bank account. Has this happened to anyone else? I'm a bit worried of course!

Resubmit it.

just call them

How can I resubmit it? My application is marked as complete.

Perhaps I am in the wrong place. I simply was looking for anyone who may have had a similar situation with their application. I certainly CAN wait until tomorrow and call them. Ha! Further, I understand tomorrow is a business day and I don't have to wait all weekend to check. I was just putting it out there to see if the experience was had by another and if they could enlighten me as to the possible reason, etc.

Often this happens normally when money is waiting to be cleared. With my AACOMAS app the couple hundred was back in my account, although technically it's still being cleared.

There's this thing that lets you have a voice conversation with someone anywhere in the world. It's called a telephone and it allows you to submit things even if they have already been submitted. It's pretty damn cool if you ask me.

This. They likely just put a hold for the $50 on your account and didn't get around to finalizing it before your bank's time limit (usually 3-5 days) ran out. This sort of thing happens all the time if you, say, take a vacation and are in the hotel for 5 days. Don't be surprised if you wake up in the morning and it's gone again.

I presumed clerical error. Could be what was posted above.

Let me first say that I appreciate the few constructive responses I receivedsince my post. So, thank you to those who provided a valid explanation. Lastevening I was simply wondering if the experience had happened to anyone else orif such an explanation was out there.

Of course, I have since called the school (as anyone would) and got to thebottom of it.

I must add however that I am disappointed at some of your responses. I'm insulted that someone considering professionalschool for their future would suggest that a future colleague would not thinkto simply pick up the phone. Theresponse "pick up the phone and call them" is condescending and notwarranted. Would you say the same to aperson on an admissions committee? Notlikely. I would think you would considera much better delivery. Regardless, thank you again to those constructive responses. I appreciate you time.

Welcome to the internets. I suggest you grow some thicker skin bro.

Oh cool, so I was right.

Ill count myself with a constructive response, since my suggestion solved your problem.

To avoid future "disappointment" preface your question with, "I'm not looking for a solution, I just want people to talk about it". 🙄

PS *if* an adcom asks me what to do if a company rejects payment for something, I will tell them, I dont know, call them and see. I will not tell them, post it on a forum...that'll help.

👍

Seriously, and in what way is it "unprofessional" to suggest you pick up the phone and call. I think it's a fair answer in that we know that we don't have the answer. Why speculate when you know the right answer can be found with a single phone call?

You know what is unprofessional? Leaving out spaces between words! Who does that?🙄 I would think that someone considering professional school would take the time and care to make sure their response was written out correctly and would most certainly find a better delivery. Goodluckwithyourapplications😀

Orientation this week has shown me that there are a ton of fun people in med school that can be both professional and incredibly enjoyable. There are also a ton of lame people that just want everyone to be as lame as them. I am not insinuating anything about the OP, I am simply stating an interesting observation of my week. Carry on!

How is that condescending or unwarranted? You asked a question, they offered advice. You ended up doing what they said, didn't you? That in itself means the advice was indeed warranted.

I'm pretty sure he is referring to this:

^I second this. My account shows the money returned a few days later and then the next day it's taken out again. It's happened with each school. Just how your card is set up I guess. Wait it out.

He used quote marks. What he paraphrased more closely resembles this.

lol I thought he was mostly getting at you at first, but you can see things starting to go south by post #7... which largely refers to my post.

Anyway OP... why are you getting so bent out of shape about the suggestion that you call? Because people kept mentioning it? Well no wonder, you appear to gloss over the idea entirely until your second reply! A simple "yep I plan on it" would have taken care of that. I was even trying to give you peace of mind by saying you had a business day left in the week to take care of it. I had a question about my study abroad credits on a Saturday morning, guess what? I didn't get to hear from AACOMAS until Monday and that easily could have delayed my app submission by a week or more.

And I'm glad you mention the expectations of your fellow pre-meds. I expect that my colleagues pursuing such a respected profession would have some thicker skin. I guarantee you you're going to deal with a million different personality types in your fellow students, professors, staff, and even your patients. And guess what, they aren't all going to be pleasant. We weren't even TRYING to insult/talk down to you here, what are you going to do when someone is?

If an AdCom asked me a question of this nature and I didn't have an experience to share, yeah I'd say "oh that's strange. I'd give them a call in the morning."
