Reusing Essays

so is it alright to reuse essays(with some modifications) to schools that you got interviews to if you are reapplying ? Thanks!!

To be safe, I would re-write the essays. You can keep the "spirit" of the essay the same, but I would definitely put in the time and effort to make them different. Otherwise you run the risk of looking lazy.

(Not saying that you are...I've got what feels like dozens of old essays I wish I could reuse, and frankly I see nothing wrong with it but this is what I've been told by ADCOMs)

At the bare minimum, I would change the first sentence. That'll throw them off a bit. 😛

Rewrite. If you haven't changed, they won't bother interviewing you again.

I had an english prof who was very adamant about people reusing their own work....she considered it plagiarizing yourself. Personally I think....WTF!!!! plagiarizing yourself do it all you want

I don't think its as much an ethical issue as one of common sense. If you're reapplying, you want to prove that you're a better applicant a year later. Using the same essays won't accomplish that
