Hey all,

2 questions--

1) Is it necessary to recheck vitals if, for example, the BP was low or high (as listed on the door sheet)?

2) Do you guys go thru all systems or only the pertinent ones when doing ROS? Also, when writing it out, is it okay to do::: ROS: Negative, except as per above. Or any other variations of that.

THanks!

Why would you want to recheck vitals?

You dont have much time to waste. And certainly, you dont have time to second guess the NBME. Just make sure the vitals are written down in your PN as is.

You only have 15 minutes to go in and get out. Neuro exam alone takes more than 15 minutes. To answer your question: NO. Do what is pertinent.

"ROS: Negative, except as per above" is fine. Even in real life, unnecessary repetition is frowned upon.

Reading First Aid, it appears that you are expected to do orthoststic vitals in some cases. It seems like that would take way too much time.
