I checked on the status of one of my letter of rec and was informed that the letter was received, but the writer spelled my name wrong. I was advised to ask that the person re-send it, but i forgot to ask how this will be processed if the original has already been uploaded to ERAS, Will the new letter "override" the old letter or will it be seen as an additional letter?

When the new letter is uploaded, you can "deassign" the old letter.

I think they actually replace the old letter in the same file, and re-send it to all the programs. So the next time the program downloads anything from the post office, it will replace the old letter. If the programs haven't printed it out, they won't even see the old letter.

You don't have to do anything except send the Dean's office the new letter. They will take care of fixing the file.
