RICE tables on mcat?

Has anyone ever needed to do RICE tables on the mcat? It just seems like such a big waste of time, I don't see why they would put that on the exam. Can anyone chime in on this?

Yea in all the AAMC and TPRs I've taken I have yet needed to do one of those

There's one on AAMC 7. I can't remember how necessary it was though (i.e. you might be able to get away from the questions without doing it formally). A good rule of thumb is that if it is something takes most people a significant amount of time, it probably will not be tested or will have a quick way of doing it. There just isn't enough time for time-intensive questions like that.

I think you should at least know how to solve a conceptual problem pertaining to acid-base eq, but I doubt you'll have to use an entire rice table to solve a question.

I think you're right. It's more important to just conceptually understand it. Personally, if I see it on the real thing I would probably save it for last so I don't kill time I could be using for other problems.

You won't have the time to do RICE tables. There are quick logical ways to get the right answer without writing out the table and doing the math.
