Can anyone see if I have this right?

Renal osteodystrophy:
Decreased Ca2+, increased PO4, increased PTH, decreased vitamin D

Rickets:
Decreased Vitamin D, decreased Ca2+, decreased PO4, increased PTH

If the levels of everything else in these two diseases are the same, why does one have increased PO4 and the other have decrease PO4?

If something's wrong with your kidneys you're not going to be able to excrete the phosphate that PTH is trying to get rid of. In rickets, the kidneys are fine, so phosphate is free to run away from home.

yeah another way to think of it is that renal osteodystrophy is specifically the renal enzyme (last step to make Vit D) that is lacking where rickets can be of any etiology; renal osteodystrophy can CAUSE rickets (+ a 2ndary hyperparathyroidism)
