Ridiculous Moments in Rad Onc History

I actually am a member. Gotta use my CME funds somehow....but that is ridicilous and above all the other thing that have been mentioned, may make me not renew...

I get one free society membership with my job so shopped around the last 3 years. Currently an ASCO member and like it, will keep it going.

My read is that you have to pay a fee to be re-instated plus the membership dues for all gap years.

The promotion waives the fees and the gap years dues, but you have to pay full price for 2025 and they will bill you for 2026 in January.

It is unhinged.

Funny. I didn't have to pay for the near decade I wasn't a member of ACRO when I finally decided to rejoin a couple years ago.

ASTRO continues to prove and show how tone deaf of a professional medical specialty organization it really is

So as an example: Let's just say I cancel Disney+, if I was to renew it 10 yrs from now- I would still owe them 10 yrs of fees!?

Wow, ASTRO- I'm so glad I cancelled my membership years ago!

  • Reinstate your membership before November 6 and your past ASTRO membership dues and reinstatement fees will be waived.

Does the above mean they also think they can charge you retroactive dues for the years you dropped out? They won't even waive the current year's dues in the 11th month of the year. Good illustration of why this is a poverty organization.

EDIT: I should've kept reading the thread. Looks like you all had it covered. I was just so shocked, that I immediately had to comment. Many in the same boat apparently.
