hey guys, i have two questions...any suggestions would be very much appreciated 🙂

1. for micro, my core resource is first aid..but i hear that it's not enough so i need to use ridiculously simple as well. are there any specific chapters in rid. simple that i need to focus on more than the others ( i'm not gonna have the time to go through the whole book so if you know of any guidelines that will help me focus on the key points in rid. simple that are missing in first aid, that would be great) !!

2. once i finish studying and annotating first aid, and brs phys, i plan to listen to 39 hours of goljan audio...just to fill in the blanks (since i haven't used his book). Do you think it will be a waste of time though to spend so many hours listening? i am thinking of taking notes while i listen so i can retain some of the stuff i hear.

thanks

The first part of the bacteria section and the first part of the viruses section where they talk about the principles of how everything works are higher yield b/c understanding how everything works sticks with you longer than a bunch of tiny facts. I think the sections on worms parasites etc. are low yield and I wasted my time reading them b/c even if I do get 1 question on Loa loa (I do not actually remember what Loa loa is btw) I'm sure as hell not going to remember it from reading CMMRS in February. Drugs are pretty high yield but don't get caught up in details of exactly what bugs are covered by what. They usually only want to know the DOC for big diseases like ceftriaxone + azithromycin/doxycycline for gonorrhea/chlamydia coinfection, stuff like that. Listening to Goljan and reading RR gets you pretty far on a lot of micro too. oh yeah and AIDS in CMMRS is probably a good thing to look at

Listening to Goljan will not be a waste of time and I think most people will agree with this. You should follow along with the Goljan pictures so you have something to look at as a point of reference. You can speed up the audio too.. I think 1.5-1.6X speed is pretty good.

I like his audio and think it is integral to my study plan because I'm not using RR Pathology.

i have the audio, but where do i get the pictures from?

I think if you google goljan slides or something you can find them somewhere pretty easy
