Would appreciate any help on this. Pic attached.

Q: After the switch is closed, what is the orientation of the magnetic field at P and Q, respectively?

TIA!

Current flows positive to negative. thumb goes in direction of current. Curl finger around wire and that is the magnetic field. Into page for Q, out of page for P.

Correct, concept does change, current flows from the (+) terminal to (-). I just mistook took the picture. It is into page for P and out of page for Q. Good catch.

:laugh:Thanks for taking the pic upside down:laugh:
By convention, current flow from positive terminal to the wire back to the negative terminal , follow the current , put your thumb on the wire and you will see that P in and Q out.
